ahhhhh, inner peace.........Football season has arrived.
The Mighty Chicago Bears will play their 1st preseason game today against the Cheifs at 7:00p.m. While it won't be televised in this area, you can catch it at 10:55 p.m. on the NFL Network. You can bet Rick and I will be watching it.
Rick and I have our tickets all lined up for 3 games this year and can't wait.
Excited just doesn't begin to describe it...........
now on to the Big Fat Cry Baby.
I hate Brett Favre.
Always have.
It has nothing to do with his being a Packer. I just genuinely dislike him as a football player.
That doesn't mean he isn't one of the best quarterbacks ever, because he is. That doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, because he does.
It means that I have always thought that he was about himself and was not a team player. It was always evident when the Packers were losing a game. It was never his fault. He always blamed people around him, and in the post game interviews, always tore his teammates apart.
I was proved right during this offseason, when he decided rather than retire with dignity, he was going to tarnish his legacy and attempt to force the Packers to give him his spot back or buy him out for millions of dollars.
Kudos to the Packers front office for standing their ground. I have new respect for Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Their previous coach, Mike Sherman, would never have had a big enough pair to tell Favre no.
Well, it's official. Favre has officially been traded to the New York Jets. I hope he enjoys his season with a mediocre team, while he destroys the green/gold legacy that so many cherished.
The man who never missed a start at all, never from broken bone, or any injury, will miss his first start as a Green Bay Packer with a bruised ego. Poor Thing.
Go Bears!

Great post Amber. While I do not share your hatred for Brett Favre, I am quite disgusted with his actions this summer. I'm disgusted that he has ruined the legacy that he worked so hard to create in the first place. I loathe the JETS, so I hope they stink it up!
I, of course, LOVE the Bears...and will watch every single game I can this season.
Ummm, Amber you know ALOT about football. I am impressed. I did know that Favre was traded to the Jets, yeah me. And can I mention that he was pretty good in "There is something about Mary?"
So what do you think about people like CHER or Garth Brooks coming out of retirement to go on tour?
Sarah,
that would be okay, because Cher and Garth wouldn't be trying to force an organization to take him back and pay him 12 million dollars of their salary cap to play a position that they didn't want him for.
I have a feeling he burnt a lot of friendships this summer with his antics.
If you hear that Cher comes back, let me know, I would LOVE to see her in concert.
:)
Holly,
We live and breathe football around here.
As a matter of fact, before Rick and I got married, he would have been a fan, but my love of the game as well, would be what turned us into, what i like to refer to as...super fans.
Nothing is better than watching a game at Soldier Field!
:)
I agree. If Cher comes out of retirement, I would definitely go see her and all her hotness!
